Description

This is a hall-house, dating back to the 16th century, with later alterations, notably in the late 19th century when the south end was converted into a village hall. The ground floor is built of red and grey brick, while the first floor is framed and has some brickwork to the left of the centre. The right-hand side is infilled with plaster and some curved braces, and the left-hand side is rendered. The roof is hipped and tiled, with a ridge stack almost in the centre and an end stack to the north. The building is two storeys high, with an irregular arrangement of 19th-century casement windows and glazing bar sash windows. The entrance to Yew Tree Cottage is almost central, with a flat hood supported by brackets. The Village Hall section on the left-hand side features a gabled weather-porch with a boarded door and a large sash window to the left.
