Description

The stables at Roydon Hall, built in the later 19th century, were likely added during a remodeling by Habershon. They form three sides of a courtyard, with the entrance located on the south side, flanked by piers that carry lions. The carriage house is situated to the west. The stables are constructed of red brick with grey headers and stone dressings, topped with a plain tiled roof. They feature crow-stepped gables with stone kneelers at both the front and rear, and are a single storey with double doors.

To the north, the stables are also made of red brick with grey headers and stone dressings, and have a plain tiled roof. This section is one storey with an attic and has a three-window front. It includes a central projection topped by a crow-stepped gable with carved stone kneelers, and semi-dormers on either side. The first floor has cross windows, while the ground floor features four-light mullioned windows and a central carriage entrance. All windows and the entrance are arched and have drip moulds.

The east range is two storeys and resembles the central projection of the north range, also featuring crow-stepped gables at the front and back. It has a two-light first floor window with trefoil heads on both lights and a central ground floor carriage entrance. Additionally, there is a crow-stepped gabled semi-dormer to the south, which has trefoil heads on the three lights of its arched window.
