Description
The pavilion located to the northeast of Mereworth Castle was built around 1740-1750, possibly designed by Henry Flitcroft. It features rendered walls with stone dressings and has a central cube structure topped by a hipped slate roof with a blind lantern. A deep Tuscan columned portico is situated to the west, while arcaded porticos are found to the north and south. The building includes a triglyph frieze and a shell room that was restored in 1980. The south arched portico has been closed in and contains remnants of decorative fresco, which depicts a central arch with a figure and scroll-work.
