Description

Ashenden is a house dating circa 1820, with an earlier 17th-century wing at the rear. The main block is constructed of red brick and features a bracketed eaves cornice to a hipped slate roof, with a rear stack. The symmetrical front facade has three windows, with tripartite glazing bar sashes on the outer sides and a single glazing bar sash above the entrance. All windows have gauged flat arched heads. A central entrance is defined by a bracketed pilastered doorcase topped with a broken triangular pediment. The entrance has a panelled, half-glazed door with a wreathed and radiating fanlight. The rear wing is tile-hung and has later additions. A circa 40-yard-long red brick garden wall borders Tree Lane; it is likely from the early 19th century.
