Description

This is a Wealden hall-house dating to the 15th century. It is characterised by exposed timber framing with plaster infilling. The roof is steeply pitched and covered in plain tiles, with a tall brick stack projecting to the right. The first-floor overhangs to the left and right of the centre, supported by joists and corner brackets. The front facade has two storeys and three windows, arranged in a three-bay configuration. The windows are mostly 19th-century casements. Entrances to numbers 140 and 142 are located within the main block, featuring boarded doors. A two-storey weatherboard extension with a tiled roof projects to the left, and contains the entrance to number 144. This extension was formerly used as a wheelwright's shop and smithy.
