Description
Hamptons is a building constructed in 1813, designed by R W Jearrad, who is known for his work in Cheltenham. The structure is made of yellow brick and features a stone plinth, band, parapet, and coping. It has a low-pitched slate roof and is two storeys high, with a rectangular plan that includes a later Victorian kitchen wing. The south front has seven bays, while the kitchen wing to the east has three bays. The building is adorned with sash windows that have moulded surrounds and flat hoods on the ground floor. There is a central one-bay projection with a pedimented tripartite window on the first floor. A projecting porte-cochere is supported by two pairs of Greek Ionic columns. Additionally, there is a veranda on the west return front with panelled Corinthian supports. According to Pevsner, the house was gabled in 1883.
