Description
Fairseat Manor is a house dating from around 1700, with a rear block that originates from the 17th century. The building is constructed of red brick featuring blue headers and red dressings, along with pilasters. It has a concealed slate roof and stands two storeys high on a brick plinth, which includes a platband and a tall parapet with a band. The facade has a 2-2-2 bay arrangement, divided by four giant pilasters, each topped with a plaster wren above the cornice. The windows are glazing bar sashes set in flat-arch surrounds, with the side dressings extending upwards as vertical bands of red headers. There are small slit glazing bar sash windows located on either side of the central panelled door, which is framed by a flat doorcase with fluted Tuscan pilasters. The entablature above the door features ogee ornamentation and a dentilled cornice. The rear block is made of 17th-century brick and is tile-hung, with gables at each end.
Inside, the manor contains two panelled rooms and a panelled hall from around 1700, along with a three-flight newel staircase located at the back on the ground floor. There is also one panelled room on the first floor. All these rooms feature bolection moulding fireplaces. Additionally, there is evidence of timber-framing in the rooms of the rear block, particularly in the roof joists and wall-plates.
