Description
The Church of St Mary is a Grade II* listed building, completely rebuilt around 1400 and restored in the 19th century. It is constructed from coursed rubble stone and features plain tiled roofs. The church includes a west tower, a nave with a north aisle, and a chancel. The three-stage west tower has diagonal buttresses and a low broach spire, with rectangular belfry openings. On the first storey of the tower, there is a tall lancet window above a painted arched doorway, which has a drip-mould above it. The doors are boarded and fitted with strap-hinges.
The nave consists of two bays, with a pair of two-light mullioned windows on the south side; the left window is flat-headed, while the right is pointed-arched, both featuring drip-moulds above. There is a single flat-headed two-light window on the north side. The chancel has one bay, with flat-headed windows to the north and south, and a pointed-arched window to the east. All tracery has been restored.
Inside, the church features the original tower arch, a two-bay north aisle, and a chancel arch, all supported by octagonal piers. The arches have hollow chamfers. A wooden chancel screen, possibly predating the current church, is adorned with ogee quatrefoils. The roofs are of rafter construction.
