Description
Nos 175 to 195 on High Street are a range of early 19th-century houses constructed from white brick, although No 187 is cemented. The buildings are three storeys high with a basement, originally featuring areas that have been replaced by shop fronts in some cases. Each house typically has two windows. Nos 175 to 183 have a parapet; for Nos 175 and 177, this is located above the second floor, while for Nos 179 to 183, it is above the first floor, with dormers above and a mansarded slate roof. The remaining houses have a projecting eaves cornice and a slate roof. Most of the glazing bars remain intact above the ground floor. All houses, except Nos 183, 185, and 189, have modern shop fronts added in front of them. Nos 179, 183, and 187 feature round-headed doorways with semi-circular fanlights, and Nos 179 and 183 also have pilasters flanking their doorways. Nos 167 to 195 form a group.
