Description

Wistaria House is an 18th-century house located on High Street, West Malling. It is constructed of red brick with grey headers in a Flemish bond pattern, with a tiled roof and a brick chimney stack. The house is two storeys high, with an attic and three windows. Architectural details include a moulded wooden eaves cornice and a band between the floors. The attic has two gabled dormers with casement windows. The windows are 12-pane sashes, each with louvred shutters. A central doorcase features a cornice and reeded pilasters with paterae, leading to a six-panelled door with the top two panels glazed. Spear railings form an attached forecourt. Attached to the rear is an 18th-century stuccoed wing featuring a hipped tiled roof and a 12-pane sash window within a moulded architrave. The interior reportedly contains reeded door surrounds, a staircase with a wreathed mahogany handrail, and original fireplaces with grates.
