Description
The barn at Manston Green is a structure dating from the 17th century or earlier, with partial rebuilding that occurred in 1780. It features a timber frame set on a base of rendered and red brick. The entrance front is covered with corrugated plastic sheeting, while the rear is weatherboarded, and the roof is made of corrugated material. The roof is hipped on the right side and half-hipped on the left, with a gabled mid-stray. Inside, the barn consists of five bays with aisles. The southern two bays are constructed with large scantling timbers and passing shores, while the northern three bays, which date from 1780, include quadrant braces and reuse much earlier timber. The roof structure is a clasped purlin design.
