Description
The Sun Inn is a 15th century timber-framed building located on the south side of West Street. It has been refronted but still features an overhang on its first floor supported by a bressummer and modern brackets. The building has two storeys and three windows. The ground floor is finished in painted brick, while the first floor is plastered. Number 10 has two gables, while number 11 features an eaves cornice. Both sections have tiled roofs. The first floor includes sash windows with intact glazing bars. Number 10 has modern windows on the left side and a five-light sash window with shutters on the right. Number 11 features a semi-circular arched doorway with a six-panel door set in reveals. The Sun Inn is part of a group that includes Nos 1 and 2 and Nos 4 to 12, along with Nos 14 to 16, forming a cohesive architectural context in The Market Place.
