Description

An early 19th-century oast house and cottage, situated in Norton and Buckland Lewson Street. The building is timber-framed with weatherboarding, and has a pan-tiled roof. To the rear is a brick roundel with a plain tiled roof. The cottage and granary were built as a single range, incorporating Gothic details and a roundel. The structure stands on a brick and flint plinth and features paired modillion eaves, brackets, and a stack located to the right. A single glazing-barred casement window with a moulded pointed hood and loft doors in a four-centred arched surround are on the first floor, alongside double cart doors, a boarded door, and a diamond-light wooden casement on the ground floor to the granary. The cottage section (at the right end) includes a diamond-light wooden casement on both the first and ground floors, both with moulded surrounds, alongside a ribbed door to the right end with a moulded arched surround and attached shafts. A capped roundel is situated at the rear.
