Description

The tombs of Adam and Richard Ruck are located 5 yards southeast of the porch of the Church of St. Michael in Hartlip. These two identical chest tombs date from 1816 and are made of stone with iron railings. Each tomb features a base, plinth, and chests adorned with inverted torches in raised and moulded corner panels, along with engraved side panels. One tomb is dedicated to Adam Ruck, who died in 1749, and his widow, who died in 1770, while the other is for Richard Ruck, who died in 1816. Both tombs rest on a single stone base and are surrounded by spear-head railings that stand 5 feet high, with urn principals.
