Description
5 Abbey Street is a building from the 18th century with a front that conceals an earlier structure. It stands three storeys tall and features three windows. The exterior is made of red brick and is topped with a wooden modillion cornice and a brick parapet. The building has two bays on each floor, although the bays on the first and second floors have been altered and now appear as one. The glazing bars are missing. A notable feature is the doorway, which is enhanced by engaged Doric columns, a triglyph frieze with rosettes in the metopes, a pediment, and a rectangular fanlight above a six-panel door, four of which are fielded. Additionally, there is a medieval cellar. This building is part of a group that includes Nos 3 to 12 Abbey Street.
