Description
Nos. 245 and 247 on Borden Lane is a Wealden hall house dating from the 15th century. The building features a timber frame with exposed plaster infill and painted brick underbuilding on the right side, topped with a plain tiled roof. It consists of three framed bays and a screens passage, standing two storeys high. The right end bay juts out, while the left end bay is underbuilt. There is an arch-braced flying wall plate over the recessed central hall and screens passage bays. The roof is hipped, with a stack inserted at the centre left in the screens passage and a projecting stack at the end right. The eaves line of the left end bay is raised. The windows are irregularly arranged, with four wooden casements on the first floor and three on the ground floor, along with board doors located at the left end, centre right, and right.
