Description

Gazebo, probably from the mid 19th century. It is timber framed and weather boarded with a plain tiled roof, featuring an octagonal plan. The ground floor has octagonal piers that support the upper floor, which is accessed by steps cut into an earth bank. The roadside section of the gazebo is supported by a red brick boundary wall. There are sashed windows on each roadside facade, with the east side having shutters, and a boarded door on the northeast side. Although it was originally part of the grounds of Preston House, which was last rebuilt in 1790 and demolished in the 1930s, this structure is likely not that old. A gazebo or similar structure is marked on the 1865 Ordnance Survey map.
