Description

The Walnuts is a house dating from 1825, built for Thomas Pembury, who was a blacksmith. It is constructed of red brick with a slate roof. The house comprises two parallel ranges. The design features two storeys, a wood mullion eaves cornice, and a hipped roof with stacks projecting at the left and right ends. The windows are regularly spaced, with three glazing bar sashes to the first floor and two to the ground floor, each with gauged heads. A central panelled door is topped by a semi-circular fanlight, all sheltered beneath an open pediment supported by fluted Doric pilasters, and approached by a flight of three steps. Further information can be found in E. Selby’s Teyham Manor and Hundred, 1982 edition, page 70.
