Description

Old Oast Cottage is a house that dates back to the 16th century, with a refacing from the 19th century. It features a timber frame that is exposed, with red and yellow brick infill and a red brick underbuilding. The roof is plain tiled and has three framed bays, which suggests it may have originally been designed as a Wealden hall house. The building has two storeys and an attic, with a hipped roof that includes gablets and a hipped dormer. There is a stack located at the rear. On each floor, there are three wooden casements, with the first-floor windows occupying the original positions of mullioned lights. The entrance is located on the rear elevation, and there is a catslide outshot to the left.
