Description

This is a row of four buildings, numbered 37 to 41, located on Tanners Street. The front of the buildings dates to the 18th century, although a core structure may be older. Number 37 is part of the same building block as numbers 38 to 41. The buildings have tiled gabled roofs, with number 38 featuring modern pantiles. The facades are roughcast.

The ground floor windows retain their original glazing bars, with the exception of number 39. Number 40 has a small shop window which is no longer in use. The upper floors have casement windows.

Parts of the building range date to the 16th and 17th centuries, and consist of timber framing with plastered fronts. The first floor overhangs on a bressummer. A small shop window and doorway are flanked by pilasters with a small fascia, now converted for domestic use. A 19th-century house door is located on the right-hand side.

Numbers 37 to 41 form a group with numbers 21 and 22, numbers 25 to 27 and numbers 42.
