Description

Oyster Bay House is a warehouse built around the mid-19th century, specifically around 1843, when the creek was improved. It is constructed of buff-coloured stock brick and features a Welsh slate roof with gabled ends and a brick dentil eaves cornice. The building has a rectangular plan, with the north end facing the creek equipped with a hoist and a doorway on each floor for loading and unloading. The south end also has a hoist and doorway at each floor level.

The exterior consists of three storeys, with the second storey partly in the roof space. The east and west sides have five bays, while the north and south ends have three bays, all divided by brick pilasters that clasp the corners at the ends. The openings are segmental brick arches with original 16-pane cast-iron windows, which feature decorative bosses at the intersections of the glazing bars. On the ground floor of the west side, there is a doorway to the right with an original door, and a wider doorway is located at the centre of the east side. Each gable end has a central doorway on each floor with plank double doors. The ground floor doorway on the south end has been enlarged at a later date. Both gables have weatherboarded timber-framed hoist housings that contain old hoist mechanisms, with the hoist housing at the north end rising above the main roof level. The interior has not been inspected.
