Description

This is a cottage row with a shop, dating back to the 16th century. It was significantly altered and extended between the 17th and 19th centuries. The building is timber framed and mostly clad in red brick, with some sections showing the original timber frame on the rear elevations. The brickwork is a mix of English bond and exposed framing. It has two storeys, a plinth, and a corbelled eaves cornice. The roof is hipped on the right side and has stacks positioned at the far left, centre left, and right. The front has three wooden casement windows on the first floor, one metal casement on the ground floor to the left, and two canted bay windows. There are boarded doors to the left and centre. A single-story, shop extension with battlements is located to the right. To the left of the main building is a one-story-and-attic extension with a hipped roof and a gabled dormer. This smaller section has two segment-headed wooden casements and central half-doors. The rear elevation exhibits exposed timber framing. Inside, the original timber framing is visible.
