Description
The Old House is a house built in the 18th century, located in Painter's Forstal, Ospringe. It is constructed of red brick with a plain tiled roof and features two storeys above a plinth. The roof is hipped and has two stacks on the left and two on the right. The building has a regular arrangement of five glazing bar sash windows on the first floor and four on the ground floor, all with box surrounds. The ground floor windows have segmental heads. The central entrance features a half-glazed door flanked by engaged Doric columns, a pulvinated frieze, and a modillion cornice. The house was built in 1792 as the parish workhouse, as noted in the Faversham Papers, No.15, 1978.
