Description
Church House is a house from the 16th century, originally known as Church Cottages. It features a timber frame with exposed painted brick infill and a plain tiled roof. The building has a lobby entry plan consisting of four framed bays and stands two storeys high on a flint plinth, with small frame panelling and a continuous jetty. The hipped roof has gablets, with stacks positioned to the centre right and projecting at the end left. There are five mullioned windows on the first floor and three on the ground floor, along with a plank and stud door located to the centre right. The return sides of the house are close-studded. Church House was built by Sir Thomas Sondes, who died in 1592, and originally served as a school house.
