Description

Lower Tickham Cottages is a hall house, originally dating to the 15th century, and significantly altered and extended in the 19th and 20th centuries. The house is timber framed with red and blue brick infill and has a plain tiled roof. It originally comprised three framed bays, with a parallel range added to the rear in the 19th century, and a number of irregular extensions on all sides. The house is two storeys high, with the upper storey breaking the eaves to the left, featuring two gabled semi-dormers. The roofs are hipped, with a gablet to left, and include stacks to the left and a projecting end to the right. Further hipped extensions project irregularly to both the left and right sides. The windows are a mix of metal and wood casements, with boarded doors in the extensions. The interior includes brattished and moulded dais beams, which may have been reused in their current location.
