Description
A pair of large semi-detached houses built in the early 20th century, designed by J Leonard Williams in a Dutch style. The houses are roughcast with brick quoins on ragstone plinths, and have steeply-pitched tiled roofs with one brick-channeled and roughcast chimneystack apiece. They have two storeys and a basement, with six windows across the front and five windows to the side elevation. The windows are leaded light casements.
The design features a recessed central section with four first-floor windows, with casements and wooden shutters. A ground-floor casement and doorcase with a rectangular fanlight and a half-glazed door are on the left side, alongside a four-light casement to the right. The projecting end bays have open pediments, quoins, round-headed first-floor casements, scrolled panels between the floors, and cambered ground-floor casements. The side elevation features five casements beneath a wide moulded cornice, and round-headed doorcases upstairs with brick banding. The rear elevation has more pronounced projecting gables.
The interior has not been inspected, but reports suggest the presence of stained glass windows, and the likely survival of original wooden staircases, wooden panelling, and fireplaces.
