Description
High House is a late medieval hall house that has undergone significant alterations, particularly to the left end, in the 18th century and later. The garden front features two storeys with three irregularly placed windows. It has a high-pitched tiled roof with left hips at different levels and a half hip on the right side. The first floor is tile hung, while the ground floor is made of 19th-century red brick with a pattern of blue headers. The windows are 19th-century casements, including a half-dormer that breaks the eaves. There is a modern lean-to porch on the left and a modern extension at the back right. The roof slopes low along the remainder of the back, and a long 19th-century extension has been added. On the left return, there is a large ground floor made of galletted rubble. Inside, there are exposed timber features, including a 16th-century ceiling, although the lower part of the 16th-century chimney has been partially removed.
