Description
The Old House is a restored farmhouse that dates back to the 16th century or earlier, located in Westerham, Kent. It features a framed structure with exposed half-timbering and brick infilling, along with areas that are partly tile hung and partly constructed of random stone with brick quoins. The building has two storeys, a ridge tile roof, and a tiled gable end to the left that includes an attic window. It is topped with coupled ridge Tudor stacks. The windows consist of lattice and square paned casements set in wooden frames, and there is a modern projecting tile porch at the entrance.
Inside, the house showcases much exposed stout timber, several old doors, and 17th-century wainscoting above the sitting room fireplace. There are three restored inglenook fireplaces, and in the attic, the rafters are marked with names, initials, and dates from the 16th and 17th centuries. Historically, the house served as an inn, and some of the old iron casements with diamond leading and original glass remain, including one or two in original mullioned wood frames.
