Description

St Julian's, including the adjoining conservatory, is a building that originally dates to around 1825 but was refaced by the architect Pennethorne around 1845. The structure has two storeys and an attic, constructed from London stock brick with stone dressings and topped with slate roofs. The south front features three bays, each with an oriel window extending through both floors. There is a false attic window with a hood moulding set in a shaped gable. Inside, the building includes an original double cube drawing room and three vaulted bedrooms above, all featuring plainly moulded cornices and joinery, reflecting a Tudor style. To the left, there is a pleasant conservatory. The remainder of the house primarily dates from the late 19th century, with a rainwater head over the front door marked 1877. The old porch has been glazed in, and while the carriage entrance is blocked, Pennethorne's pinnacles still remain. Most windows and chimneys have been renewed, and there are three bargeboards in the gables.
