Description
Force Green Farmhouse is an 18th-century front elevation built onto an earlier timber-framed house, likely dating from the late 16th century. The front of the farmhouse is two storeys and an attic, with three windows. It has a high-pitched tiled roof with projecting end chimneys, two of which are hipped, and one is gabled. A skylight is located centrally. The first floor is tile-hung, while the ground floor is red brick with some blue headers. A first-floor band runs around the building. The windows are 2- and 3-light 19th-century casements with single glazing bars. A wide door is set within a heavy box frame and is sheltered by a late 19th-century gabled porch with seating. A modern, single-storey, one-window extension is situated on the right side of the building. A lean-to extension is present on the left. Inside, there are heavy, closely-spaced beams, some with stop-chamfered spine beams with run-out stops and roll moulding on one beam. Old plank floors and a boarded-up inglenook fireplace remain. Some sections have fairly close studding with a half rail.
