The Coal Taxpost, also known as an obelisk, is located on the north side of the railway, 500 yards west of Swanley Station. It was erected before 1861 and is made of stone, standing approximately 14 feet high. The obelisk features a carved cartouche that displays the arms of the City of London along with the motto 'Domine dirigie nos'. This type of Coal Taxpost was specifically erected on railways and is classified as number 206 type 4b in "The Coal Duties of the City of London and their Boundary Marks" published in 1972 by Martin Nail.
