Description

Moat Farmhouse is a 15th century or earlier timber-framed building that was originally an open hall-house. It has two storeys, with the ground floor made of red brick and the upper floor tile hung. The roof is steeply pitched, hipped, and tiled, featuring a gablet. The building has three casement windows and a flat wooden weather hood. Inside, it retains upright posts with jowls, massive tie beams, and three kingposts. The open hall was ceiled over in the 16th century when a large chimneystack with an inglenook fireplace was added. Remnants of the moat can still be seen on the north-west and south-east sides.
