Description

Minerva House is an early 19th century villa, originally a three-window design. It has a low-pitched slate roof with small lead gargoyles on the gutter. The exterior is rendered in incised stucco. The windows are sash windows with glazing bars, set within moulded wooden architraves. The front door consists of six panels, with a glazed upper section, and is framed by a shouldered, moulded architrave featuring a head of Minerva on the keystone. The building features an oak-leaf swell frieze, a moulded cornice, and egg-and-dart moulding on the blocking course. Inside, the entrance hall is a diagonal chequered pattern of black and white marble. One original marble fireplace remains.
