Description

Nos 61 to 65 on High Street in Edenbridge are a range of timber-framed buildings that date back to the 17th century or earlier. The buildings feature cross-gabled roofs, with high-pitched tiled roofs that are half-hipped on the right side.

No 61 has a 19th-century painted brick front and stands two storeys high with an attic, featuring two windows. It has a decorative bargeboard on the gable and gauged segmental brick arches above sash windows, although the glazing bars are missing. There is a projecting small square bay shop window in the center, a half-glazed door on the left, and a round arch leading to a passageway on the right.

No 63 also has two storeys and an attic, with three windows. The left side of the first floor is painted brick, while the right side, which is under the gable, has incised rendering and quoins. An attic sash window is set under a stucco hoodmould. The first floor features a later 19th-century canted bay window and two modern casements. The ground floor has a late 19th-century shop front with a modern fascia.

No 65 is two storeys high with three windows. The first floor is tile-hung and includes a 18th-century sash window with glazing bars, flanked by late 19th-century sashes. The ground floor has a modern brick facade with a bank design. The rear elevations reveal a tile-hung first floor with visible timber framing and brick filling below, along with early 19th-century sashes and casements. Nos 61 and 63 have a long rear wing with a hipped gabled end and a lean-to at the ground floor eaves level.
