Description

The Church of Saint Paul, designed by Ewan Christian, was built between 1860 and 1861, with the tower completed from 1862 to 1865. It is constructed of stone rubble and features bands of polychrome brick decoration in yellow and red. The church includes a nave and an apsidal-ended chancel, along with a central west tower topped by a shingled spire and a south porch. The windows showcase decorated tracery.

Inside, the chancel is adorned with mosaics and frescoes depicting Christ and eight angels, as well as stained glass created by Schingley and Hunt of Lancaster.
