Description

A pair of houses dating from the mid-18th century, with alterations in the mid-19th century. The houses are built of chequered red and grey brick to the ground floor, with the first floor tile-hung. They have a plain tile roof, a ragstone plinth, and a moulded wooden eaves cornice. Gable ends feature flush gable stacks, and there are two hipped dormers with moulded cornices and two-light casements. The fenestration is irregular, with four fifteen-pane sashes in moulded wooden architraves. On the ground floor are one twenty-pane, one four-pane and two sixteen-pane sashes. The Lodge has a four-panelled door with a flat corniced hood, while The Limes has a half-glazed door with a trellised porch and a swept, leaded roof. A rear lean-to is integral to the left side of The Lodge, and a parallel rear range extends to the right, built with red and grey brick on the ground floor and tile-hung on the first floor, with a gabled form and a valley stack. The interior was not inspected.
