Description
Crabbe Farmhouse is a farmhouse that dates from the 17th century and later. It has a timber-framed core, with the ground floor constructed of stone and the first floor made of red brick in Flemish bond. The right gable end is tile-hung, while the left gable end features red brick on the ground floor and is tile-hung above. There is a lean-to that is clad in stone and red brick, and the roof is covered with plain tiles. The building consists of four bays and has an integral timber-framed rear lean-to, likely designed with a lobby entry. It stands two storeys high on a galleted stone plinth and has plain two-storey buttresses with brick plinths at both ends of the front elevation and at the front end of the side elevations. The roof is hipped to the left and half-hipped to the right, with a brick ridge stack that was rebuilt in the mid-20th century and is slightly off-centre to the right. The fenestration is irregular, featuring four 19th-century windows: one sash window, two glazing-bar sashes, and one small casement. There are also 20th-century French doors to the left of centre and a blocked central door. Inside, the farmhouse has exposed timbers.
