Description

Grigg Farmhouse is a timber-framed building dating from the 16th century or earlier, with alterations made in the early 18th century. The ground floor of the left-hand bays is built of red brick in a Flemish bond, while the right-hand bays are constructed of chequered red and grey brick. The central section has exposed timber posts, infilled with red brick in a stretcher bond. The first floor has combed plaster. The roof is tiled, hipped, and features a gablet. A brick stack is situated on the front slope of the roof, positioned in the narrow bay second from the left end. The farmhouse has an irregular fenestration of five casement windows. A ribbed door is located beneath the stack. A short, 2-storey and garret central rear wing, matching the materials, was added in the 18th century. A rear lean-to extends from the right-hand side. The date "1718" is inscribed above the front door. The interior remains uninspected.
