Description
The railings and garden wall located approximately 5 metres west of The Old House on Queen Street in Yalding date from the 19th century. They feature painted iron railings with fleur-de-lys designs and spear-head newels, standing about 1 metre high. These are set on a low red brick plinth with chamfered coping. There is a foot gate, also railed and with a curved brace, positioned opposite the front door. The ends are marked by rectangular brick piers topped with rendered conical caps. The red brick garden wall, which is similar in height to the railings and has chamfered coping, extends to the left from the end of the railings, ramping up to about 2 metres and curving around to the back of the house. A similar wall, also ramped to about 2 metres, extends approximately 100 metres from the right end of the railings. These features are included for their group value.
