Description

Inwood is a house dating from the early to mid-17th century. It is timber-framed, with a ground floor of red brick in a stretcher bond, retaining end posts and some visible studs. The first floor was originally plastered but is now exposed timber framing. The roof is covered with plain tiles, and the house has four timber-framed bays, including a narrow stack bay. The plan is a lobby entry, and the building is two storeys high with a garret. The timber framing features broadly-spaced close-studding and long tension braces to each end. Inside, there is a dropped tie-beam. The roof is half-hipped. A rear stack is located to the second bay from the right. The windows are irregularly placed, featuring two 3-light casements. A single-storey, 20th-century timber and brick porch with a panelled door now covers the two central bays. A rear lean-to has been added. The interior has not been inspected.
