Description

This is a late 16th or early 17th century house, later divided into two separate dwellings. It is timber-framed with rendered infill, and the left gable end is weatherboarded. The roof is covered in plain tiles. The building has four timber-framed bays, the bay on the left slightly longer. It is two storeys high with a garret, and sits on a stone plinth. The frame is close-studded with jettied eaves on the left gable end, supported by plain brackets. A brick ridge stack is located in the second timber-framed bay from the left.

The windows are mostly four-pane casements. A two-storey, close-studded rectangular bay window projects from the left-hand timber-framed bay, featuring a ground-floor cill on shaped brackets and a three-light casement on each floor. A small two-light casement is located under the eaves of the bay containing the stack. Another similar bay window is positioned in the third timber-framed bay from the left, with a small two-light casement under the eaves of the right-hand bay. A continuous plain-tiled canopy covers a pair of adjacent ribbed doors – one leading to Tudor Cottage on the left and the other to Snark Cottage on the right. A large, canted two-storey close-studded bay window with an eight-light ovolo-moulded mullioned and transomed window with side-lights to each floor, projects from the left gable end.

A narrow, parallel rear range, built in the 19th century, is constructed of stone with brick dressings. The interior was not inspected.
