Description
The Limes is a house located on Old Loose Hill, dating from the late 16th century, with 18th century and later alterations. It features a timber-framed structure, with the ground floor partly finished in painted brick and partly rendered, while the first floor is entirely rendered. The roof is covered in plain tiles and has two storeys plus a garret, set on a rendered plinth. The roof is half-hipped on the left side, and there is a small brick chimney on the front slope of the roof at the left end, along with a projecting gable end stack on the right. The front of the house has a regular arrangement of three windows, consisting of two three-light casements and a central two-light casement. To the left, there is a short rear return wing from the late 18th century, also rendered, featuring a gambrel roof, a multiple brick gable-end stack on a slightly projecting stone base, one small eaves dormer, and a 16-pane sash window on the first floor. A panelled door is located near the junction of the main range and the wing. The property is said to have a datestone from 1582. The interior has not been inspected.
