Description
The Engine House is a 19th-century structure located in Boxley. It is built of red brick in Flemish bond, featuring buff brick quoins and a plain tile roof. The building has an octagonal shape, with the roof rising to a point and a wooden shaft protruding from the apex. On the south and west sides, there are large wooden diamond mullion windows, while the east side has full-height plank doors. At the northwest end, there is a rectangular shed that may have been added later, constructed of red brick in Flemish bond with a plain tile roof that is hipped at the north end. This shed has two window openings under the eaves on the west wall. Inside, there are remains of a cogged capstan in the center. The Engine House is said to have pumped water from tanks to Park House.
