Description
The Pilgrims Rest Inn is an early 18th-century inn located on Upper Street in Hollingbourne. It features a chequered pattern of red and grey brick with a plain tile roof. The building has two storeys, attics, and a cellar, all set on a rendered plinth. There is a rendered plat band, except at the right end, and a moulded wooden eaves cornice. The roof is hipped with brick ridge stacks at each end and three hipped dormers. The windows are arranged irregularly, consisting of seven 12-pane sashes in open boxes, with ground floor windows featuring splayed rubbed brick voussoirs. There is a brick relieving arch above an inserted ground-floor window to the right. The inn has three half-glazed doors: one towards the centre with a floating flat corniced hood and one at each end, the right door accessed by two steps. Notably, there is an initialled brick to the right of the central door, dated 1726. The interior has not been inspected.
