Description
This description covers a group of two chest tombs located about 19 metres south of the south aisle of the Church of All Saints in Staplehurst. These tombs date from the mid-17th century. Each tomb features a moulded stone plinth, a chamfered lid, and plain side panels. The tombs are positioned one to the west of the other.
The eastern chest tomb has an inscription that was largely illegible at the time of the re-survey. The western chest tomb has an inscription on the north side that was barely legible during the same re-survey, with a date of death noted as 1667, although this is uncertain.
