Description
The Linton Cricket Club Cricket Pavilion is a single-storey building constructed by 1888 by the Cornwallis family, who owned Linton Park from 1883 to 1936. The pavilion features a pre-fabricated corrugated iron structure set on a brick plinth, supported by iron columns, and includes decorative cresting and wooden barge boards, along with a clock tower and internal walls and roof structure.
The pavilion has a rectangular plan with three bays and a verandah on the east side. The exterior showcases ornamental roof cresting along the ridge and a gabled wooden clock at the center of the east side. The east side's verandah is adorned with cast iron ornamental cresting, supported by scrolled brackets and elaborate cast iron Composite pillars with tall octagonal bases. Behind the verandah, there are two wooden casement windows and a central half-glazed double door with chamfered panels. The north and south ends feature wooden barge-boards with alternating trefoil and circular cutouts, along with wooden casement windows. The south end has two casement windows, while the north end has one casement window and a doorcase. The west side contains two casement window openings.
Inside, the wooden roof structure consists of three bays with cross-bracing and purlins, and there is wall panelling. An internal partition runs the full length of the building, separating a circulation area at the front from two changing rooms for the home and away teams at the rear. Original panelled doors with diagonal struts and some wooden benches remain. A small 20th-century kitchen has been added to the north side of the circulation area, but it is not of special interest.
