Description
This is a headstone located half a yard east of the south porch of the Church of St Mary and All Saints. It dates from the mid-18th century and is made of stone with a semi-circular top. The sides of the headstone are decorated with a fillet, ovolo, hollow, and roll carvings. On the eastern side, there is a carving of a cherub's head and wings above the name of Sam Thawes, who was a citizen of London. He passed away in 1764, although the inscription is largely illegible at the time of the last survey.
