Description
Ash Cottage and 2 Lower Ashbank Cottages are a row of houses located in Leeds, dating from the early 17th century and late 18th century, with restoration in the 20th century. The buildings are timber framed with plaster infilling, and the right and left end bays are tile-hung. They feature a plain tile roof and a lobby entry plan, standing two storeys high on a stone plinth. The construction includes close-studded framing, although some of the studs have been altered. There is a continuous jetty across all but the right and left end bays. The roof is hipped, with the hip returning along the left side elevation. An off-centre brick ridge stack is located to the left, along with a smaller brick stack at the rear of the left return wing. The fenestration is irregular, consisting of six casements: four with two lights, one single light, and one with four lights. Ribbed doors lead to number 2 beneath one stack and to Ash Cottage at the right end of the jettied section, both accessed by four steps. There is a tile-hung lean-to on the right end, and the left return wing is likely from the late 18th century. The interiors have not been inspected.
