Description
Corrall's Charity Almshouses are a group of six semi-detached houses located on College Walk, built in the early to mid-19th century. They were funded by Philip Corrall, who was the Mayor of Maidstone in 1814, to provide housing for the relatives of those who died in the Napoleonic Wars. The houses are constructed from ragstone ashlar and are two storeys high. Each house features gables at the sides with kneelers and central blank gables with panels. The ground floor of each house has a triple lancet window, while both the ground and first floors have a double lancet window on the side elevations. Each house also has a hipped entrance porch on the side elevation, set on a stone plinth, and there are four clustered stone stacks on each building. The six houses together form a cohesive group.
