Description

Church Farm House is a farmhouse, now a house, dating from the 17th century or earlier, with alterations in the 19th century. It is likely timber-framed, with a painted brick facade. A portion of the right gable end is tile-hung and painted towards the front. The roof is tiled, with hips returning to the left and right, and a dentilled brick eaves cornice. A projecting brick stack in English bond is located on the left gable end, featuring tumbled brick shoulders and a moulded brick base to the truncated flue. Another brick stack is in the front slope of the roof to the left of centre, and a third stack is on the right gable end, with tumbled brick shoulders, a filleted flue with a plain brick band to the base, and a corbelled top. The windows are irregularly placed, with three three-light casements; one to the left and two to the right of the left-hand stack. The left ground-floor casement has splayed painted brick voussoirs. Consoled cornices are above two ground-floor French windows on the right side. A ribbed door, also with consoled cornice, is set up two steps immediately to the left of the stack. Rear return wings extend to the left and right, with brick ground floors, weatherboarded first floors (except for the tile-hung right side of the right wing), and half-hipped plain tile roofs. A four-light diamond mullion window is on the left side of the right wing. A central rear wing or turret, shorter than and adjoining the left wing, is constructed of similar materials and has a hipped roof. A rear lean-to connects the central and right wings. The interior has not been inspected.
